VIEW EXHIBITION

From its earliest days, the Riverwest Artists Association was a major source of community arts programming greatly contributed to the neighborhood's current identity as an urban center of creativity. This exhibition features the work of those who contributed to this long effort which eventually transformed the organization into a community art center, the jazz Gallery Center for the Arts. It is a tribute to those who made this all possible.

JGCA: Annual Membership Exhibition

The Annual Membership exhibition is a long-standing tradition at the Jazz Gallery Center for the Arts that goes back to our roots as the Riverwest Artists Association. It was timed to occur each fall during a time frame that included Artwalk, the walking tour that was the beginning of our organization in 1979. With ArtWalk on pause due to pandemic, the exhibition continues as a survey of the visual art works produced by our members, both long standing and new. A rich display of the diverse forms and talents of our community of artists.

MKE’s Creative Efforts to Stop COVID-19

During the height of the pandemic, Milwaukee artists strategically translated COVID-19 public health messaging in collaboration with health professionals, community organizers and activists. This group, The Creative Health Collective, designed culturally relevant murals, banners, video, music, graphic designs, stencils and tailored masks to mobilize their communities.
